A desire for higher quality products that are made to last

This week will see the launch of new collections across the fabric industry and over the next month and throughout the year we will be focusing on trends in fabric and focusing on brands we love. As we’ve talked about during the past few blogs, the spotlight on sustainability is huge and we predict here to stay. As new collections begin to be announced throughout the world of interiors, the sustainability design aspect isn’t solely a shift seen in materials. We are also seeing people recognising that their homes need to be havens for relaxation The slower pace of life that we experienced over the past year has given rise to a more patient, longer-term approach to decorating our homes. We are noticing that the disposable, throwaway fashion is moving away, perhaps for good. Our customers know that when they come to Cocobolo Furnishings, they will get not only a personal service but the highest quality furnishings, curtains, blinds and cushions.. made to last. We pride ourselves on quality of workmanship, all our soft furnishings are hand sewn by our dedicated team here in Dorset, bespoke, crafted with care and precision meaning we are very proud to be part of this shift in thinking to a sustainable living path.

What we have realised over the past year more so that ever before is that the rise in demand for made to measure curtains and blinds is also helping people to realise their vision for a unique home that reflects their individual tastes rather than off the peg and short term and we predict this preference for bespoke to last long into the future.

The movement away from cheap throwaway has seen people restoring pre-loved items rather than discarding them to buy off-the-shelf versions of inferior quality.

Did you know we offer a well established furniture re-upholstery service?

In 2021 saw a seismic shift to the desire for re-upholstery, with customers choosing to revive old pieces, breathing new life into heirlooms or old furniture than may once have been discarded. Furnishings may be changed less frequently moving forward but consumers will be led by a desire for higher quality products that are made to last and here at Cocobolo, as an independent soft furnishing business with the ethic of quality workmanship at our core, we are excited at the prospect of this shift. But as an individual, where to start you many wonder? Even something as seemingly small as a lampshade can be a great starting point, a refurbished

lampshade in a beautiful bespoke fabric is a great place to add colour and texture, plain, pleated or even customised with trimmings. As Cocobolo we can help!

We offer a local re-upholstery service right here in on the Dorset coast: chairs, sofas, headboards even lampshades can be given new life with beautiful fabric and we are very happy to discuss your requirements whether re-upholstery is an add-on to compliment new curtains or blinds or as a stand alone service, just give us a call and lets have a chat!
